How to Quote a Concreting Job: Australian Concreter's Pricing Guide
How to price concreting quotes in Australia — driveway, slab and exposed aggregate rates, prep and pump costs, concrete markup, and a reusable concreting quote template.

Concreting quotes are won and lost on the prep, not the pour. The concrete itself is a known cost — it's the excavation, formwork, reo and access that blow out if you don't quote them as separate items. Here's how to price concreting work accurately for the Australian market, plus a template you can reuse.
What a concreting quote should include
- Business name, ABN and contact details
- Quote number, date and expiry
- Client name and site address
- Itemised scope — excavation, formwork, reinforcement, pour and finish as separate lines
- Concrete finish specified — plain, exposed aggregate, coloured or polished
- Area (m²), thickness and strength (MPa)
- Materials and labour shown separately, plus GST, payment terms and exclusions
Common concreting rates (2025 Australian market)
- Plain concrete (driveway / slab) — supply and lay: $80–$120/m²
- Exposed aggregate: $100–$150/m²
- Coloured or stencilled concrete: $100–$160/m²
- Excavation and site prep: $50–$90/m² (more in rock or fill)
- Concrete cutting and removal: $40–$80/m²
- Concrete pump hire: $800–$1,500 per pour where access is tight
- Concreter labour: $70–$100/hr or day rate $560–$800
These are guide ranges. Site access for the truck and pump is the biggest variable — a backyard slab you can't reach with a chute costs far more than a street-front driveway.
How to price concrete and materials
Concrete runs roughly $250–$350/m³ delivered depending on strength and your area; add reo mesh or bar, formwork timber, and any pump hire, then apply 15–25% markup on materials. The markup covers ordering, short-load fees, wastage and the risk of a part-load top-up. Always quote the strength (e.g. "25 MPa") and thickness — a 100mm path and a 150mm driveway are very different jobs.
Exclusions that protect you
- "Assumes standard soil — rock excavation or fill removal charged at cost"
- "Assumes truck and pump access to the pour area"
- "Does not include drainage, plumbing or electrical conduit unless listed"
- "Council approvals and engineering certification at client's cost"
- "Price held for 30 days subject to concrete supplier pricing"
A free concreting quote structure you can reuse
Every concreting quote can follow the same skeleton: business details → job description (area, thickness, finish, MPa) → line items (split into Excavation, Formwork & Reo, Concrete, Labour and any Pump/Disposal) → subtotal → GST → total → payment terms → exclusions. Get that structure right once and every quote afterward is quick — and the concreter who quotes first, with the prep clearly itemised, wins more jobs than the cheapest lump sum.
