Insta Quotes is AI-powered quoting software for Australian and New Zealand tradies and contractors. Describe a job or upload a photo, and it returns an itemised, professional quote covering labour, materials, markup and GST, in under 30 seconds.
Why we built it
Insta Quotes was founded by Peter Mastras. It started from a simple, real problem: quoting takes too long, and slow quotes lose work. The tradie who quotes first and clearest usually wins the job, and manual quoting is slow.
The goal is a tool a busy tradie actually uses: fast, accurate and professional, without the admin. You type the scope or snap a photo on site, review the result, and send a branded PDF or Word document before you drive home. Your business name and logo go on every quote, so clients see your brand, not ours.
It is built for the trades, with dedicated tools and pricing for electricians, plumbers, builders, carpenters, painters, tilers, roofers, concreters, landscapers, and more than thirty-five other trades. Sole operators and small teams use it to quote faster and look more professional.
How the AI prices a quote
You start with a job description or a photo. The AI reads it and breaks the work into itemised lines: labour, materials and quantities. Each line is priced to current Australian and New Zealand market rates for the market you work in.
Then it gets more specific to you. You can train the AI on quotes you have already sent. Upload a past quote as a PDF, a photo or a spreadsheet, and the AI reads your line items, prices and wording into your own rate card. You approve that rate card line by line before anything is saved, and those rates then price every new quote. Spreadsheet upload is on every paid plan, while PDF and photo upload are on Tier 2 and Tier 3.
Your markup and GST are applied on top, at 10% in Australia and 15% in New Zealand. Every line stays editable, including materials, labour rates, quantities and markup, so you can change anything the AI got wrong or that you would price differently.
To be plain about it: the AI drafts, and the tradie decides. Nothing goes to a client until you have reviewed the quote and chosen to send it. You are the one putting your name and your price on it, so the final call is always yours.
Once a quote is priced and approved, the rest of the job is handled in the same place. You can export a branded PDF and email it to the client from the app. The client opens the quote through a private link and can accept or decline without creating an account, and you can see when they have opened it. If you set a deposit on the quote, the client pays it through Stripe when they accept. When a client accepts, a tax invoice is created automatically with its own invoice number, with your logo on it, and the client opens that through a private link too. Quote templates and client records are kept so the next quote for the same client or the same kind of job starts from what you already have.
Data and privacy
Your quotes contain job details and client information, so it is worth knowing how they are handled. These points come from our privacy policy, which has the full detail:
- We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
- Our primary data storage is in Australia. Some of our sub-processors are in the United States, and each overseas sub-processor is covered by a data processing agreement.
- Job descriptions, photos and uploaded documents are processed by our AI sub-processors to generate quotes. Under our current agreements they are not used to train AI models.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not store your payment card data. Card data is held and processed by Stripe.
- You can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
- We are subject to the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, so if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Peter Mastras is the founder of Insta Quotes and the Director and Lead Engineer of Edos Solutions, the company that trades as Insta Quotes, serving customers Australia-wide. He founded Edos Solutions in 2005 and has spent more than 20 years running production systems for Australian businesses across financial services, legal, healthcare, government and resources.

Insta Quotes runs in two markets from one platform: instaquotes.com.au for Australia and instaquotes.co.nz for New Zealand. Quotes are GST-aware for each market (10% in Australia, 15% in New Zealand).
